Morning chaps, and happy 2013!
No true Brit will ever pass up the opportunity to talk about the weather, so let’s start there. This is the view from my window this morning, here in shivery North Holland:
And this is how my beloved Lincoln is looking just now:
Picturesque, no? Also sub-zero, all week. There is an audible rattle building across the Netherlands as thousands of people dust off their ice skates…
Anyway, news.
The Drifting Isle Chronicles project proceeds apace. My book, Black Mercury, is all but done. Huzzah! The others are also done, or nearly so; the book covers are looking fabulous; and we’re moving on to thinking about how to promote this thing (anyone want to get involved? Let me know!).
The cast have learned their lines, adjusted their costumes, broken a leg each and are ready to go. Let me introduce you to a few of them:
Caspar Goldstein: a driver of steam-powered racing cars and local celeb;
Clara Koh: Cas Goldstein’s assistant by day, budding engineer by night;
Hildegard Goldstein: aunt to Cas, and one of the most brilliant engineers in the city of Eisenstadt;
Maximillian Goldstein: Cas’s imposing father and entrepreneur extraordinaire;
Lukas Rosenthal: another star from the racing circuit, and Caspar’s closest friend;
Min: a pigeon with a loud mouth, loud feathers and a taste for good cake.
If all goes well (crossing fingers), we may be looking at a sometime-in-February-or-maybe-March release for this series.
Watch this space for the cover reveal in the next few weeks
Also, the third adventure of Mr Konrad Savast is racing Black Mercury to the finish line. This book is called Myrrolen’s Ghost Circus, and it, too, is approaching done.
That’s Myrrolena over there, rendered by cover artist Stephanie Mooney. All being well, the Ringmistress will be making her debut sometime in February as well.
See you soon for some more cover art!
