The Drifting Isle Chronicles

After a few weeks of emails and wiki notes, I can report that the project I previously called “shared world” (written about here!) now has:

1) A name!

2) A world!

Woot, woot. The name we’ve agreed on is The Drifting Isle Chronicles. This will be the series name, and henceforth I shall refer to this noble endeavour as the Drifting Isle project. As for the world… I won’t share too many details at this point but I will share a few things.

- The genre is most definitely fantasy. We’ve come up with an interesting mixture of steampunk and high fantasy. There’ll be machines and magic aplenty.

- I myself have taken the opportunity to write that steampunk book I’ve had on my list for a while. Mine will be primarily steampunky, with a dash or two of magic. There’ll be steam-powered racing vehicles, weird flying machines and, of course, the aforementioned Drifting Isle. More about that later.

The project has gone remarkably well so far, and as you can probably gather it’s progressing fast. I’ll be writing the first chapters next week. Exciting, no?

If you’d like to read more, Joe (our group leader) just did an interview with Scott Walker from the Shared Story Worlds website: http://sharedstoryworlds.com/2012/02/the-drifting-isle-chronicles/ (Thank you, Scott!).  More on this as it develops!

Oh now that sounds very exciting indeed! How are you going to publish it? Online? Ebook? Do I get to proof read it? :D

    • Charlotte

We’ll each be publishing our own book the usual way – ebook, and maybe paperback. If you’d like to beta read you will, most certainly, be welcome to :)

The Drifting Isles is a great name. I wish you plenty of blasting steam and enchanted gears in your writing.

Nifty, Charlotte. I’m looking forward to seeing what you come up with.
